Great to say, it's a big month for PHP. Not only was it recently PHP's 20th birthday, but also PHP7 has just been released.
Additionally, on a more local level, tomorrow there is a ScotlandPHP meetup in Dundee. ScotlandPHP is the informal umbrella for PHP user groups from across Scotland. We'll be traveling down from Aberdeen with the rest of the AberdeenPHP user group, and there will be user groups from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee there also.

We were delighted to be involved in DevBar 2015. It is the inaugural DevBar event, organised by Szymon Szymczyna to great effect.
We were in a team with Angela, Keith Radcliffe and Danny Wilson. Three of us are members of AberdeenPHP usergroup, so it was quite a dev-centric skill set in the team.
The diversity of skills backgrounds of those involved was really refreshing and the venue made for a really relaxing environment to create in.
Surprisingly, due to our relaxed approach, our team won, which was a nice bonus.
Huge thanks to Szymon for organising the event, as well as his team, the judges and sponsors. We're looking forward to the next DevBar already.

We've been proud to be involved in the Joomla for quite a few years, and the project and community around it have always been amazing to be part of.
So, and it is a bit of a milestone, Joomla is now 10 years old, as of a couple of days ago. From the first time we downloaded Joomla maybe 9 years ago, to the first Joomla Day we went to in 2009, it been a great journey.
So, just a quick post to say, happy birthday joomla, here's to another 10 years!
For those unfamiliar with Joomla...
Joomla is an award-winning content management system (CMS), which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available. Best of all, Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone.

We're delighted to see the new, updated Joomla! road-map released this week.
There are some great new features and changes for 3.5, due in October, and further improvements due in 3.6 and 3.7, in Q1 and Q3 respectively.
We're particularly excited about the move of less used components to the core-supported extension directory, and, in the longer term, the Hypermedia API and new Media Manager.
You can read it in full at http://developer.joomla.org/cms/roadmap.html

Only a few days to go till J and Beyond in Prague, and preparation for our talk, "Joomla as a mobile App backend" is all ready and set
We'll be talking through a recent project for large scale App backends using Joomla. For the project we used the Joomla front-end, combined with the Fields Attach and jBackend extensions. There was a lot of RESTful JSON, DevOps, CI/CD, UI and agile work involved. The session will cover the project from a holistic point of view, diving into details where appropriate.
We're on Sunday morning, in the "Integrator" stream, just after Jessica Dunbar's keynote.

Just two weeks to go till J and Beyond in Prague, and preparation for our talk, "Joomla as a mobile App backend" is going well.
This talk will describe ideas, principles and methods related to building mobile App backends in Joomla. The Joomla front end it an ideal tool to provide app content administrators the ability to control their app. We'll look at several examples of this process for Apps developed for the UK education sector. The Apps typically use RESTful JSON interfaces to pull and push data to and from the Joomla backend.
We're on Sunday morning, in the "Integrator" stream, just after Jessica Dunbar's keynote.
