We're not typically web domain brokers, but we purchased the scotland.works web domain a few years ago for a project that did not come to fruition. As such, we're considering selling this domain name, get in touch if you're interested in this.

It's now nearly four months since Joomla 4 was released and we've been helping clients migrate from version 3 to version 4. It's a great opportunity to take some time to clear out old and unused extensions, migrate to PHP 8.1, and freshen up you site's platform. While working through this with several clients they've been delighted by the many benefits this produces, like site speed, improved accessibly, better lighthouse scores, simpler content authoring, and improved security.

At the start of the month the first release candidate for Joomla 4 was released. This is a massive milestone for the project and promises a wide swathe of improvements in all areas of the Joomla system. We've been working with the various alpha and beta versions for a while, and it's fantastic to be able to work on the release candidate code base.
We'd like to take this opportunity the say a huge thank you to all involved in the project for getting to this point.

We've been using PHP for many years, and Firebase for a few years. So it's great to have a good PHP Firebase Cloud Messaging solution.
So, we're delighted to be contributing to the PHP-FCM project. PHP-FCM is an excellent solution for push notifications to all platforms, iOS, Android and web.

On Saturday we attended Air Quality Aberdeen's Sensor build workshop.
During the two hour workshop we learned how to assemble a sensor and put it together, then we installed it on the side of our building. It's a great project and a wonderful combination of Citizen Science, Open Data and the Environment.
Air Quality Aberdeen is a organisation working to monitor air quality in Aberdeen and empower people to understand their environment. It is a collaboration between Code The City and 57 North Hackspace.

We're just on our way home from flutter europe 2020 in Warsaw. This is the first flutter event we've been to, however we look forward to attending many more in the future. Typically we mainly go to Joomla and PHP conferences, so it was a bit of a departure from the norm for us.

We were delighted to attend the Joomla forum for the future event in marbella in Spain over the last few days. The format of the event is something new for the Joomla community, an invitational sort of retreat for around 50 volunteers, contributors and stakeholders, mainly consisting of forum and discussion type sessions. There was quite a lot of self analysis and introspection to try to understand where the project is, and where it's going. We'd really like to thank the organizers and facilitators for making this brave concept a practical and productive reality.
One of the strengths, and occasionally weaknesses, of the Joomla community is the wide spread of interests and perspectives of its members. As such it is important to remember not everyone will always be happy all the time, so events like this really help everyone better understand each other's views and perspectives.
There was, on the whole, a tangible feeling of greater clarity, direction and understanding by the end of the event.
On a more personal level, we really enjoyed meeting old friends and new in the joomla community. The opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from each other is always invaluable. Despite a busy schedule and not a huge amount of sleep we return home energised and buzzing with inspiration.
There were attendees from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Guatemala, Holland, Italy, India, Indonesia, Namibia, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, and probably some other places too. This is a great testament to the wide appeal of Joomla and the passion of it's diverse community.
Looking forward I think 2020 will be an exciting year for Joomla, with the release of version 4, J & beyond returning in May and lots of plans and ideas to get stuck into from the forum for the future. We must not forget that software is only limited by ambition and expectation, we, as the Joomla community, must step forward with an abundance of both.
